Is it possible for nail fungus to cause ringworm?

I have a fungus under my thumb nail (yes I am putting special medicine on it and its almost gone)

Sometimes when I am playing with my neighbors little boy I will give him a noogie (when you use your knuckles to mess up their hair).

A couple months ago the boy, who is kindergarden, got the ring worm and my neighbor is convinced I gave it to him through my thumb nail fungus from one of the 3? noogies I have given the kid this year ?

does my neighbors argument hold water? or is he full of it?
