Psoriasis: Five Kinds Of The Disease And Other Data You Must Know About

Kinds of Psoriasis

1. Plaque Psoriasis. This affects 80% of individuals who is infected by psoriasis itself. It is characterized by elevated blotches and reddish skin that is coated by silvery-white flakes.
2. Guttate Psoriasis. This type of psoriasis is described by tiny, red marks on the skin.
3. Pustular Psoriasis. This is illustrated by white abscesses around your skin.
4. Inverse Psoriasis. It is distinguished through soft, red lacerations that appear in your skin creases.
5. Erythrodermic Psoriasis. It is typified through enlarged skin redness, intense irritation and severe pain.
Treatment for Psoriasis
The conventional ultraviolet radiation therapy following the application of crude coal tar necessitates an inconvenient two weeks of hospitalization. Just recently the anti-cancer drug methotrexate has been administered as a way of slowing down skin cell reproduction. This happens by interfering with the genetic material in the cells, but this treatment cannot be used on a long-term basis because of its potential danger to your liver.
A treatment called photochemotherapy has been evolved in some hospitals combined with oral doses of the photoactive drug called methoxsalen. This is done with exposure to a specially designed ultraviolet light system that delivers enough radiation to activate the drug. At a certain wave length it will not burn the person’s skin. Permanent disappearance of symptoms of psoriasis has been reported after one month of this treatment on an outpatient basis.
This situation is rather different than nail fungus. The latter is contagious while psoriasis is not at all in that same line. The only thing that binds them together is the fact that it causes loss of self-esteem to the people inflicted with these diseases.
